Co-Parenting

We can’t get on the same page with parenting.

My child’s other parent and I do not see eye to eye with parenting. I have strong beliefs about how to parent our child, and my ex seems to deliberately do the opposite.

Discipline… it’s all over the place depending on which house.

I do not agree with the way my child’s other parent disciplines our child. We discipline in completely different ways and it shows in my child’s behavior.

We are not together for a reason…

We can’t move past the negative feelings we have for each other to co-parent.

I know that co-parenting is about my child, but the negative feelings I have about my ex are so strong – my ex makes co-parenting impossible!

Co-parenting is difficult, especially after a separation.

However, it is possible to co-parent with someone even if you do not get along anymore.

When children are parented differently, it can be hard to keep the rules straight. Kids know when their parents disagree and do not communicate well. Children can use this to their advantage, making parenting even more difficult.

There are so many ways to discipline children: positive discipline, using natural consequences, behavioral charts, spankings, the whole-child approach, etc.

Finding the right fit for your family and both households following the same discipline is imperative for co-parenting.

All the options can be overwhelming…

… but we can help make sense of it all.

Co-parenting is not about you. Period.

It is about your child/children. We can help you navigate your feelings so that your and your ex’s focus is only on your children.

Co-Parenting can work. Let us help you co-parent your child effectively.

Sometimes you need to meet with a neutral third party who can help you develop parenting strategies that work.

At Journey to New Beginnings, we can teach both parents science-based parenting skills that can be implemented in both houses.

Children need the consistency that co-parenting provides. Without consistency, children can struggle with anxiety, depression, or even anger outbursts, because they can never keep the rules straight.

Turn your chaos into calm.

Let our licensed counselors help you customize parenting strategies to fit your needs.

We understand that co-parenting can seem impossible; but as long as both parties are willing to put their differences aside, we can help.
