Telehealth

You’ve got things going on… we get it.

Are you a resident of Mississippi who could benefit from our services… but live far away from Southaven?

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, or trauma (without suicidal ideation) but can’t make it into the office?

Maybe it’s hard to commit to therapy because of the other obligations in your life.

Maybe you have a disability and are unable to drive to your appointments.

Or… maybe you just feel more comfortable in front of a computer versus face to face.

If any of these statements sound true for you, teletherapy might be a viable option.

Teletherapy is much like traditional therapy…

But, of course, it’s online.

Studies have shown teletherapy to be as effective as traditional therapy. Some researchers even believe teletherapy can nurture a greater relationship between the patient and therapist because the therapist can actually see the patient’s environment outside of the therapy office. Others have noticed patients seem more comfortable opening up in their own “turf”.

We aim to make things as easy as possible…

All you really need is a phone, tablet, or computer… and, of course, a reliable internet connection and a safe, confidential environment to participate. Simply put, you can’t use the free Wi-Fi at the nearest burger joint! (No matter how tempting that may be.)

We ask that all clients doing teletherapy be free of substances during sessions. That means Wine-Wednesday will have to wait until after the session (but we’re still fine with Taco-Tuesday).

Also, we kindly ask that you be fully clothed for your session. We never thought we would have to include that one on the list, but, hey… some people need it written down.

Teletherapy is convenient, but it’s not a good fit for everyone.

Before enrolling in teletherapy, our team may ask you a few screening questions—just to make sure it’s the right option for you. If you feel you really need a therapist who can hand you a tissue and give you a high-five after a good session, then you need to stick to traditional therapy. If you feel you never have enough time in the day to be truly alone, sneaking away to come see us in the office-setting would be super tempting! Just think of it as self-care… “me-time” with just you and your therapist.

It’s also really important for us to say, because teletherapy takes place outside of the traditional office setting, you cannot have current suicidal thoughts. You’ll also need to agree to have an emergency plan in place, just in case. It’s a safety thing.

Ready to give it a try?

As always, we have a care team available to answer questions, discuss insurance coverage, and help you get the appointments scheduled.
