Raven and Harper
My therapist has paws!
Yep! Eight to be exact. Raven and Harper are at the office every day except Fridays.
Hey… they need a day off, too.
They love working and helping others is their favorite thing to do. When it’s time to go to the office they are sitting at the door ready to get dressed and start their day.
Raven… does he ever move!
Raven is a facility dog from Duo Dogs, Inc. in St. Louis. He is specially trained to provide comfort and love while working in facilities or offices. Raven is a black lab and the calmest, laid back dog I’ve ever been around. He’s young but acts like he’s 40… come on, you know what I’m talking about.
Although Raven is there daily, he isn’t always available for therapy sessions if he is in a session with someone else. Yes… we all must share.
Harper… well she has a personality all her own.
Harper is a double doodle and still in training. Honestly, she will probably always be in training because she didn’t go to a special school like Raven. If she is not in a therapy session, you can usually find her walking the halls. Most likely looking for something to get into.
Although she has a lot of training to go, she is very calm and loving during the sessions. She acts like a teenager at times, you know… puts her stubborn head on but she still listens. Yay Harper!
Like Raven, Harper isn’t always available for sessions if she is in a therapy session with someone else. I know, this sharing thing is tough.
Hanging out together.
Sometimes, although rarely, Harper and Raven are in a therapy session together. Raven… well he lays there, but Harper wants to play.
At times, yes, they bicker like siblings because well they are. Raven wants to chill, and Harper wants to play so…you guessed it, Harper annoys Raven just like a younger sister. It’s like watching your house in dog action.
Not just for clients… the staff needs love to.
If Harper or Raven are not in a therapy session, you can usually find them in the reception area hanging out. The handlers cringe a little because the receptionist and MA are kind of like their babysitter, aunts, or grandmother. You know, the ones that let them get away with everything and never make them listen. I’m sure this has never happened with your kids lol.
They love to visit the reception area because who wouldn’t want to be able to get away with everything? The receptionists and MA say the dogs make them happy and smile so a little off time between therapy sessions is worth it.
Wait… I don’t like dogs.
It’s okay.
Not everyone likes animals and we are very mindful of that. If someone is afraid of dogs or doesn’t like to be around them, the dogs stay in the reception area or another therapist office. Oh, and they are ALWAYS on a leash.
Want your therapist to have paws, or NOT.
Let us know when you call or come in if you would like one of our furry therapists to be present if they are available.
If not, we want to know that too so we can make sure they are visiting in a different office.
